Annette Morgan

Annette comes from a family of needlewomen, although it was her father who taught her to knit and sew. She became interested in Patchwork and Quilting in 1992 and completed her City & Guilds course in 1994. Since then she has won many local, national, and international awards. She teaches internationally and several pieces of her work have been selected for exhibitions worldwide, including Europe, Japan, and the USA.

Although she trained as a theatre nurse Annette now works exclusively in textile art. She teaches City & Guilds courses in Patchwork and Quilting [since 1999] in addition to her freelance work. She has written numerous articles for magazines including Quilting Arts [USA], and recently published a new book Creative Fabric Techniques; this follows the successful CD book Glitzy quilts. Applique and Beyond, written with Bailey Curtis, is still available. Her work has been selected for various publications, the latest being 500 Art Quilts by Lark Books 2010.

She is a qualified Quilt Judge and teacher [Cert Ed] and is a tutor on the prestigious Quilt Judging course for the Quilters Guild.

Marion Barnes

Marion has been interested in needlecraft for a very long time and has always sewn. She spent several years dressmaking, and dabbled in hand embroidery and patchwork in the 1970s. An introduction to a rotary cutter in 1988 sparked an enduring interest and she has gone on to make many quilts and related items.

This interest led Marion on to teach numerous classes and courses over the last ten years, at a local quilt shop, and for the WI. Marion completed her City & Guilds Certificate in Patchwork and Quilting in 2009, and has almost completed the Diploma course. She is currently sharing the tuition of the City & Guilds Certificate with Annette Morgan and is responsible for the sewn element of the programme.

Marion is an enthusiastic member of the WI, the Quilters Guild, and a founder member of the Cotton Club. Her City & Guilds work was chosen for the Further Education Gallery at the Festival of Quilts, 2009, and she has exhibited at Malvern, Sandown Park, Harrogate and various local shows, including a 'One Woman' show.

Founder member of Tin Hut Textiles who will be staging an exhibition in 2012

Mary McIntosh

Mary started patchwork in 1995 during a year in Canada and was immediately hooked. For ten years she balanced the responsibilities of a career and three children with building up skills in traditional patchwork.

Mary had always wanted to develop her skills further and a breakthrough came in 2005 when she bought a new sewing machine and took some courses with Yvonne Brown. A chance encounter at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham led to a meeting with Annette Morgan and Mary acquired the last place on a City & Guilds course starting in September 2007.

Four years on and Mary has completed both the Certificate and Diploma courses in Patchwork and Quilting and has acquired a battery of new skills and techniques in design and stitch and is enthusiastic to pass on these skills to others through teaching. Mary is starting a CTLLS teaching qualification from September 2011.

Mary was selected for the Further Education Gallery at the Festival of Quilts in August 2011. She is a founder member of Tin Hut Textiles - a new exhibiting group formed from City & Guilds students, and is a member of Essex and Suffolk Quilters and the Quilters Guild UK.
